Company Snapshot:

BindTech is a melting pot of organizations that date as far back as the early 1900s with roots in Cleveland, Nashville, Kingsport, and Phoenix. The company has reached over 360,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing and warehouse space with over 300 employees globally. BindTech has robust manufacturing capabilities backed by a range of institutional knowledge in the post-press service industry.

Investment Approach:

“Our approach to building BindTech has been to buy, hold and add value through close collaboration with company operatives. We started with a family-owned, service-first company with an outstanding reputation. Then, we provided the additional resources and stability the company needed to continue to grow," said M7 Investments Founder Anthony Manna.

Growth Trajectory:

The company has expanded from coast to coast over the past six years. Starting with the acquisitions of the Riverside Group in NY (‘15), BindTech in TN (‘17), Sheridan Specialty Bindery (formerly Kingsport Book) in TN (‘19), and Roswell Bookbinding in AZ (‘19). The extended portfolio of related graphic arts operations includes Publishers Storage & Shipping (PSSC). Acquired in 2015, PSSC has two locations, one in Michigan and one in Massachusetts.

As of November 2021, BindTech has returned to its roots with the acquisition of Cleveland-based Steffen Bookbinders Inc. Once cross-city competitors, BindTech and Steffen have come together, allowing them to strengthen their load sharing, resource distributing, and collaboration.

BindTech Capabilities:

BindTech’s manufacturing capabilities include hardcover binding, various sewing styles, and all mechanical binding options. In addition, the company offers high-speed perfect binding, including PUR and lay-flat binding, along with flush gatefold covers. Other post press service amenities include foil stamping, embossing, die-cutting, folding, personalization, warehousing, and fulfillment.

The Deluxe Book division of BindTech specializes in leather binding with gilded edges, hubbed spines, silk ribbon page markers, and intricate multi-colored foil stamping and debossing. Some of the products produced in this division are coffee table books, bibles, albums, and classical titles to mention a few. In addition to its post-press manufacturing platform, BindTech has a sister portfolio company (PSSC) that specializes in order management, warehousing, and fulfillment.
